1879, Jospeh Lobdell outed in an obituary by NYT under the headline "Death of a Modern Diana." Except he wasn't actually dead; he'd been thrown in an insane asylum by his brother.
(edit) He'd been previously outed in 1876 by the Port Jervis Evening Gazette, described as a "freak."

1970-1972, Dianna Boileau (from Winnipeg!) undergoes sex reassignment surgery in Toronto, gives interviews, publishes a memoir, disappears to private life. She'd been publicly outed in 1962 in a sensationalized court case in Toronto.
