Impressed by how well DeltaChat works nowadays! https://delta.chat/en/ I could easily create an account without sharing any details. Connect with a friend's Android based phone & an iPhone. We could videocall & send small apps like a game or a shared list. Apparently I can host my own chat relay & don't need to use someone else's infrastructure, but I haven't tested that yet.
