Yeah, that makes sense. The military always lets you keep a copy of their secrets so long as you make a copy by hand.
Certainly he didn't say that to justify the special effects guy being too lazy to fake a photograph.

#monsterdon Imagine if other movies did that. Imagine Alien, but we don't get to see the alien ship. They just come back with some sketches of the egg-pods.
