…except there's actually multiple backpacks, and you're not sure how many, or how big each one is.
and each time you put one down, maybe open it up and see what's inside, you discover that there's still more backpacks on your back. so you keep taking off backpacks, and you can't imagine how you ever took even a single step with all of this balanced on your back all at once.
that's gender transition.

talking about dysphoria is tricky, because youre almost always talking to three audiences: trans people well on their way or done, who know what you're talking about already, cis people, who need to understand what they will never experience, because we need their allyship, and eggs and new trans people, who have only just realized that they've got a backpack on, or have maybe just started taking some off, but don't yet realize just how many they have to go. #DysphoriaFuckedMeUp
