and youre kind of trapped because you want to express to the cis audience how absolutely devastating dysphoria is, how it wrecks lives, how it's almost impossible to operate under. you need to express how staggering the problem is.
...and you also don't want to scare the shit out of the eggs in the audience. or worse, paint a picture so ghastly that they, with all their coping strategies distracting the from their dysphoria, don't recognize what you're talking about.

when i started transition, i would say absolutely laughable shit like "im lucky, i don't have a lot of gender dysphoria" i was very, very wrong. i went into vaginoplasty—three years into transition, and willingly undertaking massive surgical trauma—still convinced i didn't "really" have bottom dysphoria. yeah. and now that i put down that backpack? friends, i had SO MUCH bottom dysphoria. i just couldn't really perceive it until it was gone. #DysphoriaFuckedMeUp
