TIL: PCIe 1x lane graphics cards do exist. Usually AST2400 based, and QEMU itself provides a system emulation of the SoCs used to build the cards themselves. They appear to be usually employed in lights-out BMC management cards for servers, but for home builders where this is ever more important for where cloud just isn't appropriate, knowing about this helps free up your 16x/8x/4x slots for local storage and networking cards. Going rate is ~25GBP, comparable to 16x aftermarket graphics cards.
