Well, I’ve taken the whole thing apart and I’ve found… nothing. No leaky caps, nothing that looks shorted or burned, no smells. It’s pristine inside. I did find one loose screw, though, so someone has been in here at some point.

Okay, there we go. PSU lights up when given 12V. That’s… green, right? Maybe there just wasn’t enough juice on the battery terminals. That buck converter I was using is a little weak. This thing has a microcontroller on it, so it’s apparently kind of smart.
