@quinn@social.circl.lu When I moved to America at the end of the 90s, as an European that had been indoctrinated with American "Land of the Free" culture, I was rather shocked to realize I was coming from a much more free continent.

    @spino@mastodon.social @quinn@social.circl.lu Law of Inverse Proportion: over exaggerating can be more directly correlated to its opposite: oppression. The US is known for over weighing deduction/reduction math - especially in early developmental stages, where multiple choice is forced to single solves. Healthy adults have a range. Most Americans too often seek one point of value, in too many value spaces. So if I'm abusive power, I support the teaching of small value spaces, and take exaggerated value - especially when those children become more singularly productive adults. An overextended #duopoly accentuates the effect, keeping a middle, stabilizing metric further removed.
