I'm about to write a letter to my small town mayor about why separation of church and state is an important and fundamentally American idea and tempted to just call him an ignorant, dangerously stupid fuck and leave it at that.

One day of many since 2016 when I'm wondering how my fellow americans managed to grow up so profoundly ignorant of history. My own education was spotty at best but I still manage to recall plenty of examples why you don't want the government to support any religion, even your own. Once again grieving that things I thought were obviously shared values are not.
