@b0rk@social.jvns.ca Of course, people should use what they want - but it's the same that people who are using LLMs and finding them useful being shouted down by people who don't understand they can be used sanely if people take care.

@b0rk@social.jvns.ca @penguin42@mastodon.org.uk I think you can sidestep the issue :-) I'm critical/cautious of LLM code generation and absolutely hate the company hype. On the other hand, I run llama (well, ollama & opencode now) with local models as assistants. Not for coding in the main but to spot stuff I miss, answer api questions. Like grep and less, there is no need to defend use of a tool. Just the cautions and maybe the advocacy for open models and tools.
