@pino@social.cologne @AnachronistJohn@zia.io @jschauma@mstdn.social That's another classic technique for de-railing a topic. Multiple things can be bad without negating the original point. As for them being the same...eh. Maybe in terms of purely *your* annoyance, but the socio-ecological implications of AI have kinda been proven to be significantly worse than FB (which is not good). You are looking at one metric and saying "these are the same"...but the sky and the ocean are both blue, but...not the same.

@pino@social.cologne @AnachronistJohn@zia.io @jschauma@mstdn.social You are also making a MASSIVE assumption that we didn't rail against the rise of Meta, 15 years ago....the very face we are having this discussion (such as it is) on Mastodon is probably a good indicator about how we feel about Meta as a technology platform.

@eldritch48@mastodon.social @AnachronistJohn@zia.io @jschauma@mstdn.social I'm sure a discussion can have multiple aspects, and some of them are core aspects, while other ones are somewhat adjacent. If you say my point is not a core part of the AI discussion, well, maybe, maybe not... But your way of blocking it feels a bit emotion driven. Like the chain smoker I've described.

@eldritch48@mastodon.social @AnachronistJohn@zia.io @jschauma@mstdn.social If someone comes up and says "I have objectively and ultimatively measured the socia-ecological implications of Facebook and of AI, so we can compare it", I would just laugh! That sounds bonkers, no?
