The project has lost utility - location accuracy in urban environments was never precise enough for tasks like "bring me from point A to point B avoiding as much surveillance as possible," so the primary value of the project was raising awareness about the degree to which we're surveilled. In my mind, the proliferation of technologies like Flock and Ring have made the value of such an awareness campaign highly questionable, and I believe resources are better spent elsewhere.
