#ScribesAndMakers June 10. (Excluding time travel) Do you have a preference between books that progress linearly and books that jump back and forth in time (flashbacks etc)? I often find this difficult when listening to audiobooks and the date is a rushed bit of information in the chapter title. It wasn't an issue with hard copy as I could flick back if I missed it, but now I mainly use audio I avoid books that jump around in time.

  • @tiggy@mastodonapp.uk Thanks for raising this point! I don't normally narrate novels, but I do short stories all the time, and while this comes up less often for those, it does arise. I already use vocal variety between different characters expressing dialogue, so it's not a stretch to do something similar for different sections of the timeline.
