➡️ We are therefore moving to enforce the right to privacy and data protection today. Methods such as Pay or Consent, individualise what is in reality a structural problem. Many of the consumers contacting Forbrukerrådet, find the solution invasive, unfair and question the legality of it 😡. Some use the term 'blackmail', and some express that they hope that somebody, such as Forbrukerrådet, will do something to stop it. Together with the excellent legal team at noyb, we do exactly that. 🤝

Finally, of course independent media is more important than ever. But this is not the way to go for the media sector. The adtech sector is ripe with adfraud, is uniquely opaque in its operation, and most ad-spend still “disappears” on the way to the broadcaster to companies such as Meta and Google, and other intermediaries. ⚖️ We hope that the Norwegian Data Protection Authority, Datatilsynet, will move swiftly and consider our complaint. end/

@finnmyrstad@eupolicy.social I wonder what GDPR thinks about all the stores that have special discounts for members. It's essentially the same thing: If you let us track you, then you get a monetary reward. Privacy for money.
