@Melezioh@mstdn.games It's a self-fulfilling prophecy. The more you tell a child that they are inherently bad because of who they are, the more they will internalize those problematic behavioral patterns as part of an immutable identity. This is why we should stop labeling people based on inherent traits like gender, and start labeling actions.

@iscarlosmolero@raccoonisland.social @Melezioh@mstdn.games That may sometimes be a factor, but another important one might just be that people stop believing this kind of accusation: If you consistently tell someone that doesn’t hold problematic views and considers those view reprehensible but might for example have an autistic streak in self-expression, that they are evil because they hold those views and treat them as such (whether explicitly or more commonly implicitly through mere exclusion from social groups), then the obvious lesson they have to learn is at best that most accusations are just the result of honest misunderstandings, if not fully made up and should be treated with great skepticism. And once you have that, it really doesn’t take much to get to the point, where men might stick together and disregard accusations as “people have said the same about me and I know that it wasn’t true then either”. And there is really nothing irrational about that view, it directly stems from lived experience after all.
