@cube_drone@mastodon.social All terrifying points. It's also difficult to make TT users aware of the issues. IIRC you saw the early-algorithm shotgun spread that gives them info about you. Mid-stage TT is curated so folks only see the stuff chosen for them, so it becomes possible to pass by somebody else's entire feed without seeing anything in common, like ships in the night. Everyone thinks their feed is the good one
Fedi does this too, but it's participatory, visible, and grassroots

@cargot_robbie@urbanists.social @cube_drone@mastodon.social So true. With algorithms and the plethora of media choices to consume no one is getting a shared experience. For the longest time we would have the same news, the same TV channels, the same movies... All of it allowed for Monday morning discussions around the break room. Now everyone thinks their social media consumption is the same as everyone else's but it's not as you say. We have placed a higher barrier on shared experience.
