@cube_drone@mastodon.social All terrifying points. It's also difficult to make TT users aware of the issues. IIRC you saw the early-algorithm shotgun spread that gives them info about you. Mid-stage TT is curated so folks only see the stuff chosen for them, so it becomes possible to pass by somebody else's entire feed without seeing anything in common, like ships in the night. Everyone thinks their feed is the good one Fedi does this too, but it's participatory, visible, and grassroots

@cube_drone@mastodon.social i had this experience when i was 19 and a group of coworkers bullied me into using snapchat and they had to spend like an hour explaining to me how it works bcs the entire concept of snapchat is just so fucking alien to how i want to live my life and while i do miss the people when i stopped working there, boy was i glad to get rid of that shit again.
