@zuul While they have psychedelic properties, amanita muscaria are not what most folks who actually consume psychedelic mushrooms (psilocybin cubensus) generally consider to be “magic mushrooms”. They have a much lower safety profile, and can make people incredibly ill, among other things. Amanita are very often used to graphically represent magic mushrooms though because they’re very striking to look at. Most psilocybin mushrooms, in comparison, tend to be plain beige or brown mushrooms that don’t look much different than culinary varieties.
