under no circumstances should one be writing software in a way that means plain text in a fucking repo destroys everything and you have no way to remediate it. That is bad practice. Even going by the minimal standards of the word engineering as used in "software engineering", that is not software engineering. I don't want your code anywhere near any problem or infrastructure and I hope it DOES get deleted.

@xgranade@wandering.shop @aks@scalie.zone @Sibshops@mastodon.online like ffs if everything comes crashing down because of a text file, it's very much a "it's good this is crashing NOW and not later" genuinely the maintainer is doing these people a favor and they don't even realize/understand/appreciate it.
