TIL about XFRA, putting a 10kW scale GPU based heater in someone's yard. Besides the obvious implications of raising power costs and introducing noise pollution there's a darker angle hidden there. If a grid is overloaded commercial consumers have to limit their consumption to avoid congestion or brownout. This was a practical approach since the power operator can call five big factories in a region, but not 100000 homes. They're aiming to exploit that.
