Although I would say that's not an immutable fact. We *could* build a more caring society. Rich af people choose to hoard instead. They choose to pit the poors against each other, forcing them the make these decisions.

17:05 yep. I'm quite likely to have multiples if we ever do, which has me seriously reconsidering any at all. I would love any kid I had the privilege to care for. That doesn't mean I would be able to meet all their needs -- or most needs often enough, which is what any 'good *enough*' parent would aim for: sustainable humility.
