@samwilson@wikis.world Haven't tried this, thanks for the tip. Was thinking indeed that a "static" site might be a way to cope. NB: Have not quite understood why Cloudflare did not protect (given their service is based on caching as far as I understand it). Which reminds that besides the resource bar being raised by all the aggressive crawling, there is also an expertise bar being raised, as suddenly small sites become "high traffic", with all the complexities this entails. @vrandecic@mas.to @kaffeeringe@social.tchncs.de

  • @openrisk@mastodon.social @samwilson@wikis.world @vrandecic@mas.to At first we had to close editing for anonymous user because of spammers. Then we had to change registration to manually confirmed accounts. And now we have to shut down access to version histories and so on for anonymous users. The internet becomes more toxic every day.

@openrisk@mastodon.social @samwilson@wikis.world @kaffeeringe@social.tchncs.de I'm also considering a static website again. Like back in 2001. Sigh. I think one of the things about Cloudflare is not most the caching, but also the filtering out bots. But the idea seems contrary to the open Web for me. Sigh.
