@geospacedman@mastodon.social I wish people who don't need slides would just stop using them. I find they all too often distract from the topic at hand. Throw up a picture of your dog or a bird, and just leave it up there. I'd rather not read along with the speaker while they read their slides out to the audience. Too distracting.

@xinit@mastodon.coffee @geospacedman@mastodon.social I disagree, in multilingual environments, having slides with text that matches the talk really helps keep up with talk.

@xinit@mastodon.coffee I've been a "professional presenter". I represented my (large) global company at various large events - and the feedback I got was that my presentations were much more popular than the average. I seldom had any text on the slides, beyond some keyword. They mostly consisted of imagery supporting the thing I was currently talking about. This helps focus the audience on my message. I used CC-licensed images exclusively. Sure, we could've afforded purchasing stock images, but that's both boring and I'd rather give credit to "amateurs". I don't see the issue using AI imagery _if_ I cannot find CC-licensed images that fit. But I guess that suddenly makes the whole presentation bad according to the people who voted in this poll. @geospacedman@mastodon.social
