@billgoats@bitbang.social @europlus@social.europlus.zone Linux is definitely the worst at major upgrades. It’s amazing that even distros made to be easy to use like Raspberry OS do not have clear instructions on how to perform a major version upgrade and it’s so infuriating when I try that it’s just easier to reflash the card and reinstall everything.
If it’s feasible for your use case, give FreeBSD a try. Upgrades just work. I get that peace feeling when using it compared to Linux I also get on pre-Tahoe Macs compared to Tahoe.

@arroz@mastodon.social @billgoats@bitbang.social @europlus@social.europlus.zone Depends on the distro. Fedora makes it really easy. You get a notification that a new major release is available and you click to upgrade. Ubuntu has that `do-release-upgrade` command or something like that. Debian is a tad more manual but usually straight forward.
