Slight tangent:
My mother is in LA funded residential care; her home stands empty (don't get me started) and is security for a deferred payment agreement.
The care provider is a charity which mostly looks after people with dementia.
The LA funding doesn't cover the charity's cost of care. Privately funded residents are paying extra because of this.
The difference is going to eventually bankrupt the charity.
What then?

@OneInterestingFact@mastodon.ie Well, there is a classic truism in economics: 'if it cannot go on forever, it won't'... and that's where the social care crisis is; each Govt. kicks the can down the road hoping that something will turn-up before actually having to deal with it.... but that road (down which the can is being kicked) is itself a cut de sac!
