I never once had to push a community here to develop a CoC. Never once had to explain the idea. Hell, the one I use now as a template whenever I have to help someone create one? Got it here.
A social contract for behavior? We had one. It wasn't perfect, but it worked a hell of a lot better than any other social media.
Until you lot broke it because you didn't understand it and refused to listen.

I dunno - maybe we should ask the mutual aid societies and groups who've been building their movements here since before ActivityPub existed. Maybe consider that the core principle behind federation is that of communities building their core strengths and abilities combined with mutual support and assistance, and *that* was the basis of a pretty damn good social contract.
