LB: I did receive that GOG newsletter in Germany too and I did have a WTF reaction on seeing the subject... 🙃 Tbh I was already getting increasingly fed up of the FOMO-inducing "here's a discount code but we won't tell you what it's for exactly and it will expire in 24h" , then if you were to make a purchase, they'd immediately follow up with another email informing you of all the other games you should buy.
