when I was still serving a descriptor emerged (stolen from the seppos) for the senior enlisted personnel with the longest experience in the org: 'greybeards' I fucken despised it then (and now) since it conveyed unearned gravitas to their opinions, given in the military you can stay as long as you want, you don't get kicked out for having shit ideas, and 10yrs of experience painting rocks is only valuable if painting of rocks is needed. No idea why this has made me mad again this morning, but I am dealing with someone who was an O6 and is demonstrably so far out over their skis it's embarrassing on an hourly basis because they will not STFU about "muh experience"
