@yantar92@fosstodon.org As you say, I guess my question is how much pathological misapplication of AI is there, which is something we will mostly know in hindsight. I was thinking about that Ars Technica article about github's recent 10x price hike, and it seems like I am not the only person to know what metric to use for "this should not have happened". @kentpitman@climatejustice.social

    @screwlisp@gamerplus.org @kentpitman@climatejustice.social AFAIK, at least in my field of research, people are trying to staff LLM and neural networks in general into pretty much every possible application. Something sticks, most things fail. I suspect that it is not different elsewhere. That's what hype is. Until people figure out where llm work and where it does not (and the limits of technical progress in the area), there will be massive misuse
