A writer for the Guardian missing the point? Never... Washing bowls are useful for one circumstance. When you only have a single bowl sink. No little side sink for pouring things into or running the tap to rinse things. I've lived in more than a dozen rented properties. Only a handful had the little sink to go with the big one. Therefore a bowl was needed. Not to mention, my bowl never goes furry. I clean it.
