@hgrsd@hachyderm.io Little of topic but here's a little anecdote from something I do know about and it ties in with the mentioned concepts of othering and acceptable: I was writing a screenplay a while ago and started writing casting calls when I asked myself and discussed with others in the team which properties were non-negotiable while others I might have imagined while writing could be neglected. If it is not part of the plot, it would distract from the plot, because viewers would constantly wonder when this would be explained by the plot." To be clear: As a queer person myself, I hate this reaction. This shouldn't be a thing. Okay, but if this thing isn't a plot point, something else has to be. It can't be this. 4/
