I tried to set up Asterisk at home.
I even bought an FXO/FXS card with a noise cancelling board so I could use my analog phone lines.
I spent hours and hours trying to get it to work.
I think it didn't help that I'm in the UK and a lot of the instructions were for the US telephone system.
In the end I gave up, and was pissed off at myself that I spent nearly £400 on hardware that had no useful instructions for a UK setup. 😡

@chewie@mammut.gogreenit.net @evgandr@mastodon.bsd.cafe I still have one of those cards! I haven't tried to set it up in many years though. I don't know how I'd get it working for the UK at all!
