Went to see M&G last night. Pretty disappointing. It didn’t feel like there was a discernible structure: some stuff happened, then some more stuff happened, then some more stuff happened. And by “stuff”, I mean a succession of fights between a monosyllabic tin man with his magic rubber sidekick and a CG monster of the minute. A script as predictable as it was threadbare, orchestrating characters I had no reason to give a shit about. If this is the best the Star Wars series can do now, time to carbon freeze it.
