Last night I was able to say goodbye for the final time to a good man. In a few days, I’ll see him in a casket. Currently, he’s bedridden and wasting away. He has no option other than starving himself to death. There’s no dignity in his death. I brought him a moment of joy when I “reminded” him that “soon he will see” my daughter, his great-granddaughter. I thanked him for accepting me into his family and told him that I love him.
