@sb@metroholografix.ca I don't think Rob Sawyer is on Mastodon ... yet. For many years he was one of the few carrying the torch of getting Wordstar to run on more modern OSes than DOS x.y. Today, he's the torchbearer for that effort. You can read his thoughts on the subject here:

I think his efforts have a wider applicability. There are too many pieces of software that have been abandoned. That's not to say that more modern software doesn't provide compelling arguments to switch for most users. But the older applications had specific features that sometimes weren't seen as worthy of carrying forward. And with the loss of support for older formats, data is being lost.
For the second time today, I have a justification to quote Roy Batty's dying words from Blade Runner:
"All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain."
