@JdeBP@mastodonapp.uk All true. In fact, on my login, all my 'Subscribed' channels are clearly allowed to ping me notifications, but those same channels are blocked as "Don't recommend channel" in my 'Recommended feed'. When they have something new, they can tell me. Until then, they can shut up.
