Update on my Immich trial run. I gave up. Apple Photos is always going to be my primary media library. I don't need another media library on top of it, just a backup. I decided to use `icloudpd` which I was running as Step 1 every week anyway. This just syncs a copy of your image library to a local folder or wherever. That's really all I wanted.
