@happyborg@fosstodon.org I think it speaks of a pretty critical hole in our current social contract: we (the state, the courts, the media) are quite good at assigning blame and dishing out consequence based on immediate downstream effects of negligence and carelessness, but fail massively at more distributed effects: emissions being another example. Maybe there's a model for prosecuting these people and companies to be found in the modern climate legal movement?
