@jasonsantamaria@typo.social I have now thought about this more and concede that there may be interesting uses in the realm of display typography, for large large sizes on posters and such. The presentation of the argument as something for website, and the text size illustrations threw me off.

    @kai@typo.social I agree the biggest gains are to be had with larger sizing. The system might get in the way at text sizes because at the end of the day, the text is just too heavy. But, I think Rob’s approach is more a proof of how far the concept can stretch (or not) rather than being strictly prescriptive.

    @kai@typo.social @jasonsantamaria@typo.social It's hard to judge the idea without a context. On its own, it inverts typographic hierarchy and looks awkward. FWIW, I’ve designed custom fonts that do this, but they were for signage and cut out of thick metal.
