@Apiary@mastodon.social oh lord, absolutely using a press. I did use a spoon at the very beginning, and then a baren, but I have a dodgy right shoulder situation and when I first started doing lino I was pissing it off regularly even when hand-printing with a decent baren. So saved up for an rolling press and now I can actually run off print for an hour without throwing myself into a state of genuine disability, and can get real clean prints if I want to to boot (which for these, heck yeah I do).

@Apiary@mastodon.social Specifically I have a Blick 906 Etching Press, with a 36 inch plate and blankets, which gives me the flexibility to run stuff a foot wide and a couple feet long through it, though most of what I carve is plates no bigger than maybe 8"x8" so a smaller press would be fine. But being able to do the occasional big thing is really nice.
