@titaniumbiscuit@nerdculture.de @Skirmisher@snoot.tube @rysiek@mstdn.social enlist a friend who also has a phone. both of you add each other to each others' contacts (it's the phone OS's contacts app used for this purpose), but don't add each other on Signal. set up a packet capture tool on the phone, such as Charles Proxy (iOS) or pcapdroid (Android), or alternatively connect the phone to a wifi router that you have modified to capture traffic. @titaniumbiscuit@nerdculture.de @Skirmisher@snoot.tube @rysiek@mstdn.social specifically the intended recipient should set up the capture tool, and start it recording. the other person should then send an image link or something (not an image file, a web address that points to one), as the very first message between those two people. once the request appears, visually verify that there's no preview of the image or site appearing.
