TLDR: Cuts traffic Cuts boarding times->speeds trips Reduces the burden on courts and unneeded criminal convictions for fare evasion Decreases bus operator assaults May not increase the cost of transit for the taxpayer because the cost of fare collection often is a major expense for transit systems (not to mention reduced traffic reduces road maintenance)
