The way I understand it, if an interpretation is found to conflict with the observable, it immediately gets changed until it fits it again (a bit like religious beliefs in that sense). Sometimes these changes mean it loses proponents, but not always.

@androcat@toot.cat I hope that that has been happening in good faith. It's one thing to keep fiddling with something until it is consistent with observation, but quite another to create a moving target merely in order to hang onto a notion without regard for a good faith pursuit of truth in some reasonable sense. @internic@mathstodon.xyz @davidsuculum@mathstodon.xyz
