@mattdm@hachyderm.io To be fair, no one cares if the inflation is back to normal in the last year if you are still paying the premium for everything because of the inflation of 2 and 3 years ago with no equivalent increase in your wage.
I mean, food prices here are roughly the same as they were in January, but it is still mind blowing compared to how much a lunch or dinner cost only 3-4 years ago, when before that, the price barely didn't move for 3-4 years.

@nicemicro@fosstodon.org @mattdm@hachyderm.io 💯 those facts don't take away from folks feeling very burdened by all the extra money they are spending and how much harder it makes their lives. What the numbers are really a proxy for high levels of knowledge. Likely then you realize the pandemic inflation was world-wide and the President has no power over it and the US did way better than almost everywhere else. Whereas other folks just straight up want to blame the President and his administration and vote them out.
