Next, grow something. The easiest things to grow are microbes. Compost all the things that can be composted. Don't pay money for things that can't be composted (e.g. plastic. Another reason to buy in bulk from local farmers: easier reduce or even eliminate waste.) Grow truck fuel (ethanol) so you don't have to pay for fossil fuel to get between land and market/town.

Grow compost worms. (Secret: compost worms eat poop and poop gold.) They are livestock, you can sell them. You can feed them to fish or chickens to "upgrade" the protein (if you can't imagine eating worms that is), and their poop is a valuable soil amendment. Seriously, worm castings are like brown gold. Growers will pay for the stuff because it really works well. 5/5
