@futurebird I've taken a cursory look at the code and from what I can tell preliminary support for OpenID Connect was added by a contributor in 2021. But low level support is only the first and arguably easiest part of the story. All the other parts of the app that interact with user authentication (login pages, admin panels, backups, etc.) have to be updated to have first class support for the new technique and all the complexity that comes with it. It can be done. It needs time and help.
