@onepict@chaos.social @MadSci@focal.social @feditips@mstdn.social I'm part of it & you absolutely have to manually opt in; he (and the other volunteers working on the project) are *only* adding people who request to be added. They're not scraping between sites, just verifying. Some verified folks from the migration (e.g., journos, academics) may not have a way to verify the Mastodon way using a link to a private professional site. People are adjusting. For example, already some media sites are letting journalists verify w Mastodon.

@jgcarpenter@mastodon.world @MadSci@focal.social @feditips@mstdn.social I think there's alot of adjustment to be made at the moment. I am glad it is opt in, but as Madsci pointed out there's been a couple of lists. Historically mastodon has been frequented by alot of folks who have been harassed etc. So folks do have concerns.

@jgcarpenter@mastodon.world some are using this as a blocklist my concern has been that not every account on the list was there by the account holder's consent & thus that blocking might do collateral damage but now I'm less concerned @onepict@chaos.social @MadSci@focal.social @feditips@mstdn.social
