momentum. Trinitron was the pinnacle of CRT tech for its time— pixels were layered neatly vs staggered meaning your TV image was clearer and text was sharper. They were Apple before Apple. There’s an old story about the first handycam (personal VHS camcorder) where one of the higher ups in the company was looking at it and during an internal unveiling. Allegedly he grabbed a bucket of water and submerged it, and when he saw air bubbles he demanded they make it smaller. That‘s a Steve Jobs tier move imo.

Their video game branch could fail completely and they could just cut it loose and reinvest in movies or headphones or whatever. It's very hard for a company to die once they don't rely on any one industry.
