I am seeing a lot of momentum building at grassroots level, especially in the western suburbs where some massive campuses (campi?) are proposed. (Also a lot in and around Sydney) There is also this event coming up soon with people from Trades Hall, 350 Aus and community members in Perth who fought off a datacentre. https://act.350.org.au/events/community-meeting-artificial-intelligence-data-centres-jobs
