I know we're all busy but Mike has crafted a wonderful blueprint, and we can make a difference in our own communities. Especially at a time when laptops certainly aren't getting any cheaper.

@killyourfm@layer8.space I've been following Mike's work and successfully got something similar going here in Utah. I'm not at comparable numbers yet, but I was able to giveaway 4 laptops last month and 1 this month so far. I have a pickup of 15ish Chromebooks slated for sometime this week though, which will have my distro, voidbook (inspired heavily by nixbook) thrown on them. Only real difference is my distro targets low-storage chromebooks.

@killyourfm@layer8.space @tootbrute@fedi.arkadi.one @codemonkeymike@fosstodon.org i'm still learning at this point and i can't commit to anything larger. i mostly want to see if this is viable in my metro-detroit community and perhaps meet others who are already doing this or want to do it locally. i appreciate the zeal to get it going on a wider level, but i'm not sure i can commit to that.
